On 11 August 2009 the NSW Planning Minister approved a gas-fired peaking power station at the Leafs Gully site
[210 Kb]. AGL welcomes the Planning Minister's decision which followed a rigorous assessment by numerous government agencies, including the Department of Environment and Climate Change, and extensive public examination.
The environmental conditions imposed on this project are some of the most stringent for any similar project and AGL intends to comply with every condition imposed. AGL considers the project and the commitments made, including preservation of a large proportion of the site, will provide positive benefits to the Macarthur community for many years to come.
